Jake Shields is having quite a brilliant time starting off his victory and successes one after the other. The former UFC welterweight contender has finally managed to get back his winning after the victory against Yoshihiro Akiyama at the last month’s UFC 144 tournament. He is hungry for more such victories where he can manage to make an impact and beat the best in the business. Jake Shields is a constant and regular visitor to the gym these days and he’s pushing up and improving his standup along with every other element of the game.

Born on the 9th of January 1979, Jake Shields is an American mixed martial artist who is an active fighter at the UFC under the welter weight division. He has been ranked at the 3rd position in the welter weight division by MMA Weekly. Jake is a student of Coach Cesar Gracie whose students include the likes of Dave Terrell, Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez. His style of fighting is usually Jiu Jitsu. His initial loss at the early years of his career to Akira Kikuchi made him wow that he would improve in his performance, skill and tactics and he went on to live his dream by winning 15 consecutive matches until he was defeated by Georges St Pierre and hence his record was broken.
Jake Shields started his initial wrestling career as an amateur at a young age of nine. He was known to be a varsity wrestler at the Calaveras High school where he completed his primary education. He managed to place second at the Amateur athletic Union and eventually went on to qualify for the National and world team for men’s division. Jake initially started his professional career with Strike force, but decided to leave and pair up with Dana White of the UFC as they had offered him a more lucrative offer which could not be resisted.
Jake Shields has shown equal interest off the fighting arena and has decided to take up a role in television and film as well. He is starring in a documentary that is being produced in the sport of MMA which is being titled as Fight Life and directed by James Z Feng. The movie has been released in the summer of 2011. Jake has also made an appearance on three episodes of Bully Beat Down which stars on MTV.
