k i thought gsp trains at jacksons mma with greg jackson and the wat with phil nurse and at renzo gracie with john danaher. how come in all the primetimes all his coaches were all at tristar? does gsp need to travel to all their gyms to get them to train him? or did he only train at tristar, and tristar brought them all in.

Jake cares about his fans, doesnt sell out like Silva, promoting Burger King which kills animals in horrible factory farms (sick, unsanitary, abuse meatvideo dotcom) and our health (my father had triple bypass surgery – look up videos after a heart attack despite being thin and fit) at least they have the BK veggie. Shields sent GSP to the Hopsital too!

@1lambea “not cheap-ass hitters like the NHL pansy assed pussies” what the fuck!? NHL “cops” are hockey players in first place and they can fight to protect their teammates. How can you even compare professional hockey players with professional fighters?

Bloody Elbow; ” Credit Shields with fighting a great fight, he flustered the champ throughout the bout, despite his awkward standup, he frustrated GSP and threw off his timing. No win, but he did more than anyone in a long time–he made GSP look bad and that’s saying a heluva lot.
Most impressively Shields got better as the fight wore on. The last time we saw a champ walk out hurt after losing the final rounds it was Lyoto Machida scraping past Shogun Rua in UFC 104, he got an immediate rematch

ESPN: ” Bloodied St Pierre decisions Shields: ” St Pierre didn’t escape unscathed. Jake Shields landed stiff jabs and right crosses, at times it seemed at will. One punch damaged the eye of St Pierre. Shields striking was much better than advertised.”
GSP’s trainer said the plan was to stay as far away from Shields as possible to avoid his take downs. Good plan on paper but GSP went from counter puncher to back peddling. Shields realized GSP wasn’t going to bang he became more aggressive.

  • By tusahmon, December 22, 2010 @ 7:06 am

yeah but gsp won da fight

  • By mikemontana1990, December 22, 2010 @ 7:23 am

@tanglestrangle and the W went to gsp, with one eye. thats all that matters

  • By 09Ginster, December 22, 2010 @ 7:49 am

@AaronJJacksonKid that makes absolutley no sense.

  • By mixmaster2669, December 22, 2010 @ 7:53 am

“Jake Shields bloodied and bruised St Pierre doing more damage than anyone else has been able to do in over four years. Shields not only won two rounds he made GSP look bad doing it.”

    GSP CLINIC

  • By 13seven13, December 22, 2010 @ 8:10 am

@AaronJJacksonKid Like the dude said there was a reason it wasn’t a repeat of the Koscheck & Fitch fights. GSP was afraid of Shields on the ground. He took Shields down at the end of a round & Jake pounded his ribs while shifting his hips for a sweep.
Later Georges followed Jake to the ground & Shields had his leg & GSP was fighting to get away within seconds.
St Pierre was on his bike for the rest of the fight, while Shields busted him up, won the 4th and 5th with aggression & damage.

  • By AaronJJacksonKid, December 22, 2010 @ 8:46 am

@tanglestrangle your right i think if gsp wanted to he could have made the fight similar to when he fought jon fitch but with less grappling beause he wouldt want to risk getting submitted

  • By tanglestrangle, December 22, 2010 @ 9:22 am

@AaronJJacksonKid True, the reason “GSP didn’t fight at his full potential” is because he was afraid to get close to Shields to engage him in a real way because he knew Shields would take him down and finish him. So he ran.

Shields won the 4th and 5th rounds with aggression and damage and kept it close throughout the fight. Jake did his best when he lost his patience and taunted Georges and St Pierre came forward for a minute, then GSP got back on his bike.
To bad Shields isn’t a shit talker.

  • By AaronJJacksonKid, December 22, 2010 @ 9:38 am

@tanglestrangle yea the only reason jake shields landed anything is because gsp didnt fight at his full potential to show the fans that he’s not ready for anderson silva

  • By MrAchillesssss, December 22, 2010 @ 10:30 am

    song 3 25 please

  • By tanglestrangle, December 22, 2010 @ 11:12 am

@AaronJJacksonKid Yeah but Shields out landed GSP in “significant strikes” as recorded by both Fight Metrics and Compu-Strike. Might look awkward but more effective than he looks.

  • By AaronJJacksonKid, December 22, 2010 @ 11:52 am

LMFAO jake shields stand-up is so horrible he couldnt even hit his name in the primetime intro!!!

  • By tanglestrangle, December 22, 2010 @ 12:46 pm

@sm0keyMcP0t420 There was no poke. The UFC and the Toronto Commission both did frame by frame reviews and it was a PUNCH.
The knuckle of his right cross, I thought it was from the left jab because Shields landed several in the 3rd (not 2nd, GSP said he thought it was second) but reviews caught the punch and “Georges immediate reaction” after it landed.

  • By tanglestrangle, December 22, 2010 @ 1:39 pm

@sm0keyMcP0t420 There was no poke, it was a KNUCKLE, and as you say Shields did damage. (a ruptured septum, eye swollen shut, cut under eye) Shields has an awkward stand up style that as Lawler said after their fight, can lead people to miss the damage he’s doing.

Shields won two rounds through aggression & damage, aggression being big since GSP went from counter punching to back peddling, anything to keep Shields from getting close enough to get a take down.

    @sm0keyMcP0t420

Yeah, because MMA math works out so well.

    song at 3:25?

  • By sm0keyMcP0t420, December 22, 2010 @ 3:29 pm

@ACIDOCEAN1 i guess u didnt watch the fight, but jake sheilds only did damage to gsp’s left side of his face and only after the poke in the left eye, which the ref didnt see and didnt give time to recover. GSP only went to hospital for eye tests…sheilds ran threw henderson, same guy anderson silva had a hard time beating and couldent beat standing up, and gsp beat sheilds with one eye, so he could probably beat henderson with one eye too. which means GSP owns silva. bottom line GSP sill #1 P4P

  • By ACIDOCEAN1, December 22, 2010 @ 4:14 pm

striking > wrestling. wrestling is for gay white boys who like to grab men’s asses.

  • By ACIDOCEAN1, December 22, 2010 @ 4:57 pm

I’m a gsp fan but moving up in weight to fight silva is a bad move. If daisy pillow fisted jake fucking shields wrecked st. pierre’s face imagine what a shark like silva would do. Gsp should stay at 169 and remain undefeated from now till he retires.
